If you know anything about The Quest (my latest album), you'll know Troy Donockley of Nightwish played on the album!

I met Troy in person at a show Nightwish was playing in Vancouver, BC Canada. This was long after he already recorded his Celtic pipes for The Quest. But what a treat to finally meet him. 

I was originally introduced to Troy through a mutual friend, Martijn of Delain. They've done several tours together. Martijn happened to know the producer I was working with (Oliver Philipps) very well, and so he got to hear my demos. When he heard them, he immediately insisted that Troy be on the album! So that is how Troy and I were introduced. 

It was really a very smooth process, recording long distance with Troy. 

We had some specific parts on particular songs, and basically told him to go to town. He's such a phenomenal musician, you can just hand someone like him a blank canvas and get something mind-blowing back. 

So that's what we did!

My immediate reaction upon hearing what he played was full-body goosebumps! 

I just thought, wow, this takes the magic factor of this album up several notches! 

When we were able to meet up in Vancouver, I asked to get a very short piece of film from him for the Quest documentary - and I was beyond flattered and shocked to hear the wonderful things he had to say. :) Such a memorable moment for me!
